Becky plays Timocco with her eyes!

June 23, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Becky is a sweet 11 year-old with severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  She loves playing on her computer (as you can tell from the video!).  She also loves swimming, playing with her friends and having sleepovers! In order to use the computer, she uses Tobii – an eye gaze software which allows her to control the computer using only her eyes. In this video, made last year when Becky was 10, you can see Becky using only her eyes to play Timocco! … [Read more...]

Ask Sarit: What skills and abilities can I target and develop using Timocco?

June 19, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Every Timocco game allows you to work on more than one skill at a time, so you can choose some combination of motor, cognitive, communicative and attention skills when setting up your games. Below is a list of the different skills that you can target using Timocco: It’s important to mention that the end goal is to transfer the skills learned in the virtual environment to the real world. Usually I recommend starting the treatment session with Timocco, then, after approximately 15 … [Read more...]

Timocco helps Avigail relate to a child with emotional difficulties

June 16, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

I work with a five and a half year-old boy with emotional difficulties. He is very interested in and very much enjoys playing with Timocco - and even makes a point of asking to play with Timocco during our sessions together. <br /> One aspect of the program that I think is really important are the attention and the joint attention features in games such as the Balloon or Bubble Bath games. In these games I used two balls and played together with the child; this enabled us to better … [Read more...]

This week we held a Timocco training day for 12 occupational therapists from Clalit Health Services in the Haifa District. It was interesting and successful for all. They tried out the system, they saw the different settings that are available for the different games, how to create a personal plan for each child and how the results are shown. One of the occupational therapist that was there said: “it was very interesting. Now I know that it’s not that complicated as I thought, and that Timocco … [Read more...]

Sara & Ben tackle motor planning issues using Timocco

June 11, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

I started treating Ben, age 4.5, for multi-system disability and motor problems that originated from difficulties in motor planning. In his initial assessment, I noticed problems in gross and fine motor abilities that prevented him from taking part in arts and crafts activities. Even when he progressed and improved in motor coordination, planning and sequencing, he still continued to struggle with being consistent in motor tasks and didn’t want to practice them at home. As a therapist, I … [Read more...]

Ask Sarit: I treat children with difficulties in sensory integration. How can I integrate Timocco in this kind of therapy?

June 5, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Thanks for the great question! Timocco increases body awareness and enhances the sense of body boundaries and body scheme. While playing Timocco you have to be very regulated and to have a full control over your body and movements in order to act within the limits of the virtual environment. The Timocco gaming balls themselves are a sensory input - you can use the balls or any other similarly colored, rounded object to play. For example you could use a rounded object with a different texture, … [Read more...]

Ask Sarit: My daughter has verbal dyspraxia and still struggles. I was wondering if your software product would be a fit for her?

May 29, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Verbal dyspraxia often comes along with general dyspraxia which affects motor planning abilities. Many therapists, including myself, believe that improving praxis abilities and motor planning skills in general have a direct and positive influence on the verbal praxis. Under this assumption, practicing motor planning and senso-motor skills using Timocco, such as: mid-line crossing, bi-lateral coordination, hand-eye coordination, organization in space and time and so on, can definitely be a … [Read more...]
