We’ve launched our new progress tracking tool!

November 4, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

We've added a new feature to help track progress among Timocco's users and we'd like to tell you about it. We've called it the 'progress tracking tool,' because that's what it does!   How does it work? The tool gathers data relating to bilateral coordination, midline crossing, hand-eye coordination and attention skills from four different Timocco games, each with a focus on one of those particular skills. It digests the information, crunches the numbers and spits out results in … [Read more...]

Movement and Learning

September 28, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Professional literature shows a salient connection between movement and learning. It shows improvement in the acquisition of learning skills and internalizes the learned material when movement is used as part of the study method. Movement in space, given in the right quantity and order, gives the child deep proprioceptive input, increases body awareness, and attention skills. Each child requires a different kind of movement to achieve his/her full learning potential. Some children will need … [Read more...]

Part II – Ask Sarit: How do you apply the skills learned in Timocco to the real world?

September 20, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Last week we touched on the idea that transferring skills from the virtual world is a multi-stage process. Empowering and enhancing the child’s feeling of competence to increase self-esteem and willingness to try new experiences – breaking the avoidance cycle. We know that feelings of success in the virtual game … [Read more...]

Ask Sarit: How do you apply the skills learned in Timocco to the real world?

September 12, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

One of the essential questions that arise when working with virtual reality (VR) tools is: does an improvement in playing indicate an improvement in the child’s ability outside the virtual environment? How can we help the child transfer the acquired abilities from the virtual to the real environment?   As an occupational therapist, I believe that functional transference can happen spontaneously from the child’s feeling of competence and the therapeutic interaction. Nevertheless, that is … [Read more...]
