Ask Sarit: How do I figure out which games are good for which child?

July 17, 2014 by Eran Arden Leave a Comment

Hi, I started using Timocco not too long ago and it’s great that there are so many games, but how do I know which one to choose and what suits each child? Could you please help me with that?

The online platform does indeed offer a wide array of games. When you’re starting out, it can seem tricky to match the right game to each specific child. I’ll try to give you some pointers that can help you get started:

First, on the main “Games” page, you can find two drop down menus called “Skills” and “Age”. These menus are located above the lists of all the games. When you choose a certain skill from the menu, it will leave only the games that work on that skill. Then you can choose the child’s age. Please note, the “Age” relates to the child’s cognitive age and not the actual age.

When you choose one or two options out of these menus, the website will narrow your game options and help you choose out of a list of the relevant games. It is also important to mention that this is only our recommendation. Once you are familiar with the different games in Timocco, you can choose the games according to your preference. Each game of course works on more than one skill, and you can use it to work on the skills that you choose.

Another tool you have at your disposal is the ‘Get Started Guide’ that you received with your account information – in the last pages you will find a brief explanation about each game and the skills that it works on. Furthermore, I recommend following our blog on the Timocco website – where every week we post an explanation about one of our games, its therapeutic value and the ages that it is suitable for.

I would also recommend that you join our online Facebook group, Timocco for Therapists, where you can share your experiences with myself and the other therapists who also use Timocco. We can also have an online discussion and exchange ideas and offer different plans and solutions.
